Honey, you are 15 -WITH A CHILD!

Think about it. Maybe if you had listened to your parents to begin with, you would not be in this position. Grow up and accept responsibility for your situation. Stay in school, get an education and take care of your responsibilties. Oh! and get some birth control.

in response to young...   Young, I suggest you enroll in a college with a dormitory. Apply for federal student aid. Go to social services and apply for food stamps and welfare. I did all of these things myself and I was able to earn a BS degree in education. Also, if you do become a teacher, your federal student loans are forgiveable. Do NOT go to an expensive school. A degree is a degree as long as your school is accredited. Make the most of your college years: choose a lucrative profession that you will enjoy doing for about 30 years.

I have no sad story. I'm a divorced single mother of two girls. I teach in a public school. I would like to buy a home for us, but I am unable to come up with the down payment. Is there a grant that can help me? I'm sure that with a lot of good budgeting and belt tightening I can make the monthly mortgage payments. I just need some down payment help. Thank you in advance.

None of my kid's fathers pay child support i only get less than 500 dollars a month from the state. I live in a two bedroom appartment with my two kids and my landlord hates me she has written me up so many times for stupid stuff i didn't do. I am trying to get a housing grant from the government to better our lives and our housing situation. My kids and I are trying to move to Seatle Washington to better persue my college dream to be a paralegal, and we are in desparate need for some help with that dream.

You were correct not to give them any information!
Nobody should ask you on the phone for money or any personal info in order to qualify you for a grant. Not to mention that it is nearly impossible someone to call you and offer you grant without preliminary written request by you.

My husband and I purchased a Historic home build in 1885 in 2005.  Our plans were grand; to restore, remodel and open a bakery café boarding house in a small town called Myrtle Creek Oregon.  We had to put a new foundation that cost about 40k, and a new roof with a cost of 26k and new electrical and plumbing.  Our money is gone, we now have bad credit and cannot get a loan.  I have tried to get the home registered as historic so we could get grants but were denied.  Our marriage is now over and I am living here with my daughter and her children.  The house has no heat and no kitchen.  We need help.  We have 100k equity, but cannot get to the money.  Any suggestions, ideas or connections would be appreciated.

I am a  disabled man with my family. In 2007 my wife and I were in need of a new home , our old home was falling down and I was awaiting disability to be approved. It finally came and we found a mobile home dealer who was more than happy to help us.Long story short.......... They stated that we had a loan , we placed some money down,  the home that we picked out was a little over our budget but, they stated that they could work around that. They tore our old home down , moved this home up and set it on our property, told us to move in and they would finish around us,,, I asked the question .... don't I need to sign my loan?  The dealer stated , oh you're fine we'll get this done and sign off .... nope. they closed the doors on the company, and we found out that we did'nt even have a loan. There is a floor plan company...who from what I understand has the rights to this home, due to the fact that, the dealer signed off their rights on assets. ok.Now we find out that , there was a loan...so to speak, but it was for a repo and not a new home. The amount was not evan near the amount needed for this home. The dealer had lied to the bank and stated that we were to get a repo home, when in fact.......we got a new one. so I contact the floor plan people(sugar daddy so to speak for the dealer) and ask what the deal was , he stated that the dealer went out of buisness and that they now have controling interest in our home. well............ we never signed any loan papers, just an informal kind of purchase agreement , in which was never signed by the dealer, and no contract to the floor plan people. I did'nt evan know they existed....so, the dealer,  took a brand new home, and drug it to our property ,and set it up and said goodbye.... of course it was not finished completly so I had to try to finish it up myself. We have been trying for two years to get someone to pick this loan up and to no avail.. We have our own acreage and it is free and clear.I have offered to pay the floor plan people payments but they wont take them. They say that they want me to pay in full, or they will take possesion , but what do you do when you have tried to work it out and they  wont, I didnt put a gun to anyones head... I feel that we were placed in a mess.By a crook ! I think that although they are entitled to a compensation  but ..go after the one who took advantage of a family and drug it up here without securing a loan first.

any ideas?

Hey, Lissa - you might look into disability or SSI for you and/or your daughter so you can get some income without worrying about employment.  You can also check out www.panicsupport4u.com, a great online support group for panic attacks - they helped me a lot when I struggled with it a while back.  Since you are a teacher you might be able to get work doing private tutoring, and maybe your students could come to your home.  Just tell your nosy landlord it's a playdate for your daughter, LOL!!  I don't know about grants for housing but you can check with HUD.  I work from home so I can avoid childcare and be with my kids (one has special needs) - click on the link in my profile to see if it's a good fit for you!  Best wishes, Rosie

I am a 40 year old woman living in a house that I can no longer afford because I got laid off from my teaching position. I get $97.00 a week from unemployment. I have severe panic attacks that make if very hard to work out of the home. I adopted a child 11 years ago that woman had left at my daycare and never returned. She is now 12 years old. I am all that this child has in life. She has a slight learning disability that requires me to work alot with her to stay focused. I am in a no win situation. In order for me to work, I need to find childcare for her. That requires money that I don't have. My condition makes it very hard for me to go out in the work force. I would feel better working from home or just being a stay at home mom. This will give me the opportunity to raise my daughter instead of paying someone else to do it. I am looking for a grant to help me pay for the home that I am renting now or a grant that will purchase a home for us so we don't have to worry about rent. We could just invest in a home that belongs to us. My landlord says that I can not run any time of business here. So someone please help me have the chance to buy a home. I am also interested in LEGIT grants. I think that so many people are forced out to work because of the need for money that no one has the chance to spend time with thier kids and guide them in life. Please help!  Lissa6963@aol.com

reply to shags--As I read you post I felt  like I was being transported back in time to when I was 21. My dear young friend you do indeed suffer from extreme depression and anxiety attacks. I worded it a little different than you but it's still the same thing. I'm not a Doctor, I'm a social worker, but I would bet my right pinky that you are also fuffering from agoraphobia--thats a disorder that manifests itself by intense fear of leaving your home or your room, and the fear is so real that you feel like your going to die if you even put a foot out of your comfort zone. Does it seem like there are dark, grey clouds over you all the time, like you have no joy, hope or happiness in your life. Even the mention of meeting  new people can put you into total panic, sometimes it's hard to even swallow or breath. Everything in or on your body hurts so bad that at times it's even hard to move. At times if you do allow yourself to go out or meet new people the fear hits you so bad all you can think about is running away and get back to your comfort zone "home". I've been there my friend and I felt I was the only person in the world that had what I had. Your not alone, just keep that thought in your head, your not alone. I also have some very good news for you shags, it''s all treatable and once you start treatment it onlly takes a few weeks and you will notice those clouds getting lighter in color and you will be able to walk around your block without fear. Do you have a doctor ? Are you low income? Most communitys have a free or sliding scale clinic. If you can I would like you to check and find out if there is a mental health clinic in your city.  You going to have to muster up all the guts you got and get yourself into a mental health clinic. Even if you can't get an appointment right away you need to call a mental health crisis line. Once you have shared your fears with someone that knows what your talking about you will start to have some hope. If you have a computer, get on it and look up mental health clinics and crisis lines. As far as getting a govn't grant, you have to establish a diagnosis either with a Dr. preferably with a mental health clinic. Now--keep your self busy with finding every resource you can and always keep in your heart that what your going through will soon disappear and above all your not alone in this.  good luck and my very best to you   sheshe030

My 9yr old son lives with his dad because I can't afford to go to court and fight his foolish and invalid claims that I am broke because of some supposed drug use. He fails to realize that I struggle financially due to having had 3 back surgeries and I am getting ready to have a 4th back surgery and a first neck surgery-at the same time. I don't even drink. My son is miserable being away from mom and my 2yr old daughter misses her brother about as much as I do. Due to my disability, it is difficult for me to work as I am awaiting these surgeries and if I do work, I would have to take horrible medication that makes me feel awful. I have been trying to find a way to get involved in real estate, but I can't find FREE information regarding govt grants anywhere-everyone wants to charge money I simply do not have. I am college educated, intelligent and motivated and need some guidance. I worry that my son is going to get increasingly angry about this situation as he seems so unhappy-I am upset that his father seems more interested in sticking it to me than he does in concentrating on coparenting with me for the emotional and mental wellbeing of our son. Does anyone know where to direct me. I have also had an identity theft which has completely ruined my credit and I do not receive any child support, welfare or disability(yet on the disability). I love my children and simply want to find a way to support my children and give them the best that I can. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated Thanks and good luck to everyone else who needs help-I feel helpless to do anything for everyone else whose stories I've read.

This has cost my children to not have the food they are use too. My son is 15 and could not get drivers ed cause we cant afford it. He will be wanting a class ring and if things don't change he will not be getting that either instead we will be living on the streets. I have contacted my mortgage company the best they will do is if you don't get more then a month behind we wont forclose on you. Come october unemployment will end cause I have exhausted it all including my extension. My only hope is to find a job which I have been looking and applying. Or a miracle. Any thoughts help would be great. And untop of all this my mother is dying of cancer so I spend alot of time taking care of her.

All the mandatory classes and other matters with housing have been done. Moving out of a city with constant sounds of sirens, horns blowing , people fighting in the street, and tenants who can't tell their children not to run back and forth through the apt because people live down stairs, and trading that for the sounds of birds, children laughing at the home across the street, and almost non existant traffic would be a blessing for my small family who all have special needs including myself. My young daughter 4 born with ABS or amniotic band syndrome a has more surgerys just ahead to repair what this horrible birth defct has left behind. My older son suffers from asbergers syndrome, and  myself surviving an almost fatal incident during surgery (aborted)I have many disabilities. One being balancing and when I fall , my bones break. I now have 2 fractured verterbra, and just recently broke my left collarbone. Thank God I am right handed. I realize what a potential homeowner is responsible for and I am ready for this change. Hard work never scared me. My issues are the property taxes and heating costs, and as soon as this problem is solved I will be a proud and happy homeowner. Thanks for your input. xkacyx

Heres the big step though, most people will get turned down on a grant because the paperwork is not worded, or filled out correctly. Some people even hire other people to fill them out. That is the step i am stil on, finding someone whom has done it before to get a successful grant.  Anyone have andy addition information that might help? Could sure use it TY.    Robbie2

My dad has worked many years trying to provide for us and now I was hoping I could help him out buy getting a farm where money can be earned. I want a farm so I can have a horse area where I can teach kids how to basic ride and care for horses. When I was a kid I loved horses but couldnt own one and hardly got to ride and I know there are kids like that out there. On the farm I also want to build a place to foster animals at shelters so there isnt alot of euthanization going on. I would produce crops to sale to people as well as hay to sell for livestock purposes. I would try to have hay and produce year around. I would offer a place where ppl can board their animals wiether its till they get land or if they are going on vacation. I am a christian and I am 19 years old. I pray that someone can help me out. I have tried multiple times to get a job but no one will hire me. Yes I am very mature for my age. Me and my parents and sister just need a bigger place and with a bigger place I can not only help myself but others as well as animals. I would greatly appreciate a grant of $400,000 but I will settle for less.

It's not that easy. You need to take mandatory classes and for thoes with children babysitters usually have to be paid. You must be willing to move out of a city as many of the programs will not allow city living due to population control - difficult if you don't own a vehicle and yes many don't. Credit must be on the top. You must get a prequalfication which does not promise that you will get a mortgage. You are responsible for paying 1 year of insurance about $500, inspection about $300, and property taxes which are $3000 aprox depending on where you live.Hud and usda won't allow manufactured or mobile homes and for some this would be perfect for their needs- you make it sound that all you have to do is call hud and you are all set but it dosen't work that way. Also a pha(public housing assistant must be available from the housing agency to walk you through this process and make changes to vouchers , this is a complicated process and all the i 's need to have dots and t's crossed. I am sure I missed quite a bit but this is just a general list of what gets you started. I hope this helps xkacyx

WOW!

Thats all I can say. I was just quickly browsing through all of these questions and concerns and noticed no had posted answers: The answers are simple.

Right now ALL of YOU with housing concerns, bad credit, forclosures and disabilities qualify for out reach programs, HUD grants and help from the government.

I noticed one lady that was making 530$ dollars a month... Did you know you can afford a house?!!? There's houses in my neighborhood going for 45,000$! Thats 275$ a month! Not only that.... but you can get the government to PAY FOR IT FOR YOU!

TO ALL OF YOU!: Knowledge is power! And you are currently on the most powerful tool in the world! The Internet!

A) Learn to google.

B) Forums do not and will not help you (unless you read this)

C) Start here: http://www.hud.gov

Then See the "Office of Community Planning and Development" for information on block grants, economic development funds, YouthBuild, HOME, HOPE, SHOP, Habitat for Humanity, emergency shelter grants, HOPWA and other programs.

There are programs out there for disabled and low income to BUY HOUSES! and with the market in the current state its in... You can AFFORD a house under these programs for LESS than 300$ a month!

Edit: When I reviewed my post, I noticed that the page was not the same as the origonal one that I replied too... If it does end up in the same page... well... then the next part applies. Otherwise its in the wrong spot!

To the lady whose kid has ADHD.... you childs gifted. Albert Einstein painted his classroom doors red so that he could find them. He had ADHD as well....  You child does not have issue's. He has strengths. He can multi-task, is keen with music and probably has an IQ of 125+. I'm sorry to say this lady... but deal with it. Its most likely you, not your child, that has issues. You need to allow him access and the ability to do multiple things at once. I, for one, am doing over 5 things right now... I have ADHD too... bTW: He's going thave issue's with writing and proper gramar. Don't scold him for it. Its not his fault. It comes with the disability. His brain works much faster than most can comprehend.

Hello all.  I am a single mom of two beautiful children.  I have tried for some time now to keelp my head above water without any help.  But right now I fee like I'm drowning!  I am struggling with bills and tired of renting.  I want my children to have a nice home to come to.  Does anyone know where a single mom such as myself can get some help.  My credit isn't the best, but we deserve to live better than this.  My children deserve better.

I am a single mother of two, I work part time till May22nd then I will be working full time again.  I work as a Home Health Care Provider.  My client is my sister, whom is 21 but is like a 18 month old baby. Her disabilities are to numerous to list.  At this time she is living with my parents and have been in there constant care for the last 21 years.

My problem is that both my parents are getting up there in age, my father is in his last stages of post polio and the prognoses is not good.  They are both stressed out, burnt out and are at an all time low in there marriage.  I love my folks and consider them true heroes.
I own a small single wide trailer in Galesville Wisconsin ( Tremp County)  with a little less then an acre, but I still owe about 45,000 on it plus a small mortgage against it to consolidate some of my bills 15,000.  First time I have bought a home and have learned many lessons on this.

My parents have made me a guardian of my sister and have asked me to take her in so that they can have some time.  My father would like to make sure that I have a place suitable for my sister after he passes away, but wont admit to it.  I understand all the dedication and time, and a life I will give up when I take my sister into my home and life.  I couldn't see her go to a nursing home. It wouldn't be healthy for her for she needs constant supervision and care.

I have found a property that would need very minor alterations that would make it perfect for my sister and my two daughters.
The asking price is 129,900.. I just do not have the funds for the down payment or the monthly payments which I have calculated to be around 950.00 to 1100.00 a month depending on a couple banks interest rates, and that would be no problem if I didn't have these other two payments to make.

Any information or help would be appreciated

My family and I are living in a mobile home provided by my employer.  My employer is fixing to close the trailers that the employees are living in by June of this year.  Because of my income and family size, I live paycheck to paycheck but my bills are always paid. While I can afford a rent or mortgage payment, there is no money left over to build credit with or to save for moving expenses.  Is there a grant or program that will help me and mine in this situation?

I am a Homeowner in search of a new home due to the new aviation freeway that flys above my once peaceful and quiet nieghborhood, robbing me of much rest and the liesure of my indoor and outdoor activities, and severely affecting my work life. Due to the Aviation freeway of which the noise is very unbearable, my home will not sell, and if it does it will sell for far below the price I need. I am asking for a grant to help me purchase another home away from aviation traffic so I can get the rest that I am so deprived of now. Banks will not allow me any loans because of my low income and lack of downpayment. Please help. Thanks, James.
